Indonesian Zurich

The Big Durian is bottom of the league in terms of standard of living. No surprise there.

I wonder though which city in Indonesia has the best standard of living? I reckon Jakarta would be near bottom of the league in Indonesia too.

Sorry for this late comment.

Did you just notice, that all of Jakarta's regional administration, except East Jakarta and Seribu Isles, got Adipura award for their good environmental programs? At least, if you measure "good place for living" based on that, Jakarta is not on low par among other Indonesian cities (although Surakarta or Semarang are in my opinion still better.

I dont know, should I cry or laugh.

Well if I compare the pollution in Jakarta to any other city I've been to in Indonesia -- Bandung, Jogja, Makassar, Medan, Manado, Semarang and Kuta Bali (is that a city?).

Jakarta is waaaay down the bottom. No doubt about it!!

I'm probably clueless about it, but maybe Bandung? Have you been...?
Fresh air, beautiful buildings, great affordable food... what irk me off are one-way roads and the abundance of 'B-plates' on the road.

why u complain about b plates, when u prob have a b plate urself?? ;)

i do like bandung. only thing is, i didn think the hotels i stayed in were all that good (royal dago and hyatt)...

but the distros are excellent :):)

Malang is pretty good. It has a better all around atmosphere. Still pretty strong Javanese culture. The people also can be quite charming.

Close to Bali and Surabaya. The standard of living was better than other cities in Indonesia.
